How does Dermaroller work to remove stretch marks?

At Dr Conlon’s Aesthetic Clinic, we know that stretch marks are incredibly challenging to treat, and there are hundreds of products in the market claiming to remove or prevent them, mostly unsuccessfully. We are pleased to present the Dermaroller for PROVEN, SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT OF STRETCH MARKS.The most common causes of stretch marks are pregnancy (between 75% and 90% of women develop stretch marks during pregnancy), adolescent growth spurts, rapid muscle growth and weight loss or gain.

These causes explain why stretch marks occur – because the skin is stretched suddenly. This stretching causes a layer of skin called the dermis (which produces skin strengthening proteins – collagen and elastin) to thin and tear. The blood vessels lying under the skin can then show through, giving the marks a reddish colour which fade to silvery white when the blood vessels contract. The thinned dermis layer, in which the stretch marks occur, is penetrated by the micro-needles of the Dermaroller. The standard Dermaroller device is adapted for treatment of stretch marks as deeper penetration is required allowing more intense treatment than used on facial areas. The procedure creates minute trauma to the top few layers of skin and stimulates the skin to heal itself by producing new fibres of collagen and elastin.

If you have ever cut yourself, the gap in the skin has been repaired from the production of collagen fibres – it is a natural process and is part of our amazing ability to heal ourselves. The collagen produced in response to the stimulation from Dermaroller, aids the thickening of the dermis layer of skin. By increasing this thickness, the stretch marks firstly fade away, then fill in and eventually, disappear altogether and the skin is restored.

Improvements can be seen in as little as a week with dramatic results in a month or less. We genuinely believe in this treatment and can assure you of its success as we have tried it ourselves.

The Procedure

Step 1: An anaesthetic ‘numbing’ cream is applied over the treatment area. The cream is left on slightly longer for stretch mark removal compared to anti-aging procedures as deeper penetration is required, taking around 30 minutes to work, making the procedure comfortable. We can assure you of this as we have tried it ourselves!

Step 2: Anaesthetic cream is removed and skin is cleaned with an alcohol solution.

Step 3: Dr Conlon will use the Dermaroller™ on the target areas and particular attention will be paid to the areas in need of enhanced treatment where the Dermastamp will be used in combination with Dermaroller. Treatment will take around 40 minutes depending on the treatment area. During the treatment most clients feel nothing, some a slight prickling sensation or tingling. Areas treated with the Dermastamp benefit from more intense treatment and therefore may feel slightly sensitive.

Step 4: Chiroxy oxygenating skin cream is applied when the procedure is finished. Chiroxy oxygenating skin cream increases your skins O2 levels when it’s needed most and is designed to increase the oxygen content of your skin by delivering O2 via nanosomes. The activity of fibroblasts, the skins generator of collagen and elastin, is dependant on the availability of O2. Chiroxy cream also contains skin conditioning and anti-oxidant ingredients.

Step 5: Heliocare Gel SPF50 applied. Oil-free, easy-apply, light to the touch formulation, with an elegance that encourages daily use. Heliocare Gel is ideal for all skin types and particularly suitable for combination, oily and spot-prone skin. UVA /UVB filters: Ultra-advanced mineral filters and non-mineral filters expertly combined to provide high level UVA /UVB protection with an elegant skin-feel and look. It is essential to apply SPF 50 after your Dermaroller procedure for 2 weeks and this is supplied as part of your treatment.

Step 6: Beautiful regenerated stretch mark free skin!

Post-Procedure Skin Care

Areas treated will take 1-2 days to return to normal. Clients are given a supply of Chiroxy oxygenating cream and Heliocare SPF50 to use after their procedure for best results. Clients must avoid sunbathing, sunbeds and saunas for at least 2 weeks after your procedure.

Does it really work?

Although the Dermaroller and medical micro-needling has been around for some time, there are few trials that exist to prove that the Dermaroller works on stretch marks. All we can say is the photos in ‘The Results’ speak for themselves and once again, at Dr Conlon’s Aesthetic Clinic, we only use treatments we have tried ourselves, we know are successful and believe in. Client satisfaction is our first and foremost priority.

How many treatments do i need?

We normally recommend that your Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ consists of a series of three Genuine Dermaroller™ procedures. Repeat treatments can be had when the redness is subsided but we recommend a 14-day interval at least, because this is the time taken for the inflammatory process to complete. Skin remodelling will continue for months after each treatment but dramatic results can be seen within a week.
