The main ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid, which works by stimulating your body’s fibroblasts, which are the cells that produce collagen. By stimulating these, we’re restoring your body’s own collagen and getting right into the root causes of sagging, aging skin.
How does a Sculptra treatment work?
Sculptra is an injectable treatment that works as a more natural way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike dermal fillers, which add volume instantly, or anti-wrinkle injections, which relax muscles, Sculptra works subtly and progressively by triggering your body’s own collagen production.
The treatment begins with a powder that is diluted with water and local anesthetic by your medical practitioner. This forms a solution that is injected in a series of small injections to target the area.
The poly-L-lactic acid then begins to work – stimulating your body’s fibroblasts to produce your natural collagen. Results begin to show within 2 weeks and complete in around 8 weeks and the results can last between 22-25 months!

The only side effects include some redness, bruising, tenderness and swelling. Small bumps can sometimes be seen under the skin just after treatment.

When will I start to see results?
Dr Conlon is welcoming and friendly and is clearly very knowledgeable. She will listen to your needs and make recommendations before rushing into treatment.
I have complete trust in her and would highly recommend her.
I decided to try the cologen injections Dr Conlon did say that it would be about six weeks before I would start to see any change in my skin.
I was a bit dubious but low and behold four weeks in I can now see a change. My skin is now looking smoother and fresher.
