Know your skin
Aging of the skin shows as wrinkling, thinning, drooping, loss of elasticity, loss of firmness. All these signs are caused by one thing – a lack of collagen. If your body produced more collagen, you wouldn’t have these signs of aging. Specific areas can be treated by injections of ‘fillers’ but to allow us to treat symptoms of aging around the whole face and neck area, a different approach is required.
This approach is called Microneedling and we use a Dermaroller to treat deep wrinkles, fine wrinkles, skin creases and lines such as crow’s feet, laughter lines and creases on the forehead, around the mouth and the decolletes (chest). Many clients also benefit from treatment of signs of aging on the backs of their hands such as wrinkles and pigmentation.
Say no to dermabrasion & chemical peels!
Dermaroller stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen, preventing and reversing the signs of aging in a totally natural way. This is a contrast to chemical peels and dermabrasion which are techniques that strip the skin of its proteins – collagen and elastins. As a result, Dermaroller is more successful than chemical peels for removal of fine lines and wrinkles, Dermaroller is less invasive than dermabrasion or chemical peels, Dermaroller is less painful than dermabrasion and chemical peels as harsh abrasive techniques are not used. There is less downtime (time where people will notice you have trauma to skin) with Dermaroller and clients return to normal activity on the day of treatment.
How does Dermaroller work?
Dr Conlon will use a Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device with thousands of tiny micro-needles to penetrate to a layer of the skin called the dermis. This causes a response within the skin called ‘inflammation’. This is the body’s healing response, and allows it to naturally repair and regenerate, forming its own fresh collagen from deep within the dermis and new skin cells. This tightens the skin, enhances skin architecture and improves skin appearance.
Post-Procedure Skin Care
Your skin will appear red on the day of treatment – like sunburn and will be back to normal the following day. We recommend that the skin is left free from make-up on the day of the procedure but clients return to their normal skincare regime the day after.
To ensure best results clients must avoid sunbathing, sunbeds, saunas and retosin creams for at least 2 weeks after your procedure.
It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a natural and long lasting enhancement.
Does it really work?
Research from 2006 proved that a single Dermaroller session can encourage up to a 1000% increase in collagen levels in the skin, making it appear younger, healthier, more elastic and even textured.
How many treatments do I need?
We normally recommend that your Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ consists of a series of three Genuine Dermaroller™ treatments with approximately 6 weeks between them.
Skin remodelling will continue for months after each treatment but results can be seen from one week onwards. Maintenance treatments would then be required annually.
